A new mini-game: Querio

Your child’s own hero runs through the level — in the clothes, hairstyle and gear your child picked.

What it is. Querio is a new mini-game on the land, and the first one where your child plays as their own hero. The hero runs through a level, jumps over pits and collects coins. If your child gives the hero a crown or a sword, the hero has it in the game too.

How to play. Each coin is one point. Hit a question block from below with the hero’s head and a coin flies out. Land on a blob from above: it pops and the hero bounces. Run into a blob from the side or fall into a pit, and you lose a life. You have three lives, and the flag at the end of each level gives one back.

Levels. New levels are added regularly. They have bouncy mushrooms that launch the hero about twice as high as a normal jump — the only way up a tall wall or across a wide pit. The game remembers how far each player has reached and before each round lets them pick any level they’ve unlocked. Each family member unlocks levels separately.

Controls. On a phone, slide your finger across the screen: the hero runs after it and jumps when your finger is above their head. The buttons below the screen work too: the arrows and “Jump”. On a computer, use the arrow keys or A and D, and Space to jump.

Sound. All mini-games now have sound; the speaker button at the top of each game turns it off. In the app, the phone also vibrates when the hero loses a life or finishes a level.

How to get it. Your child buys Querio with stars in the land shop, under “Furniture”. A round costs one token, and tokens come from the chores done that day.

You can play on the website and in the app — Querio lives on your land.
